The kids are reading stories in reading groups now!! Each group has their own story that will challenge them at their own level. It is so exciting to see the kids work hard and be successful at reading. You can start to see things click for them throughout the lessons.
This week we have been focusing on the _at word family. We have talked about how no other words are allowed in the word family house. Each student read a story called "In My Hat". We colored in all the _at words in the story then read it page by page. The stories will be coming home today so have your child read it to you tonight!! A new word family word will be presented each week.
We have also started our sight words. We have been practicing them EVERYDAY. The kids now understand that sight words cannot be sounded out only memorized. It is fun when they start to recognize them on their own.
Thanks for supporting your child at home. Starting on Thursday, the kids will be working on a computer program called Lexia in our computer lab. Information will be sent home that day so parents can have their child participate in this educational program. I look forward to kids having fun doing their homework.
