Today we read and discussed two books, one fiction (Snowy Day) and one nonfiction (Snowy Weather Days). After reading the stories, students were asked to compare and constrast the books using a venn diagram. The goal of this activity for me was to get the kids thinking more about the meaning of the stories rather than comparing and contrasting visible things (i.e. they were both about snow). Ask your kids more questions when reading at home to support their comprehension skills.
